FAQ About Aesthetics
Botox is a neurotoxin (FDA approved) to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. Botox is also used for medical concerns such as excessive sweating and jaw tension/pain caused by TMJ, clenching and/or grinding teeth.
Botox is injected into muscles that are the underlying cause of frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines — the repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, smiling and raising the eyebrows over the years. Botox can be injected into muscles that cause discomfort from clenching or grinding teeth as well as underarms, scalp, palms and feet for excess sweating.
You may begin to see results within 24 to 48 hours, with most people noticing results within 10-14 days.
Results can last 3-4 months for moderate to severe frown lines. Remember that results vary from patient to patient though, so your injector will plan your next appointment based on your results and aesthetic goals. Results for hyperhidrosis vary based on the area of treatment, lasting 4-6 months up to a year for some individuals.
Dermal fillers are injections that plump up areas of the face to enhance features and/or restore volume loss due to age, allowing for a more youthful look. We use a collection of hyaluronic acid fillers called Juvéderm.
Different formulations are approved to either volumize cheeks, smooth smile lines, smooth lines around the mouth, plump the lips, define the chin, improve the jawline, or improve the appearance of undereye hollows. The results are long-lasting and can be customized by your injector to help you achieve your aesthetic goals. The Juvéderm Collection of Fillers are for adults over 21.
Juvéderm injectable gels labeled with “XC” contain pain-reducing lidocaine to help manage pain or discomfort during the injection. You may also ask your aesthetic healthcare provider about a topical numbing cream or ice to help minimize discomfort.
You will see results instantly.
Filler can last anywhere between 1-2 years depending on the area and formula used.
The most common side effects are redness, potential bruising, swelling, pain and tenderness. Minimize exercise, sun or heat exposure, and alcoholic beverages within the first 24 hours following treatment to avoid worsening these side effects.
